Skill Level: Novice

Step 9 - Submitting your site to Google

Google has been known to be the most important crawler-based search engine. This is due to alot of major search engines being powered by Google such as Yahoo and AOL Search. Plus many people goto Google to search.

When submitting your page to Google you only need to submit the index page and Google should crawl and find the rest of your site.

When you have your site ready for submission to Google click here and the link will take you to Google's Add url page.

It is also a good idea to submit your site to the Open Directory section inside Google. The OD is a human edited directory which is free to submit to. The most important thing that the OD considers is if the website offer's unique content for the topic or category. It usually takes up to 4-6 weeks to get listed in the OD.

Websites may also be rejected by the category editor without explanation, so make sure you choose the correct category for your site.
